When I was a child, the only time fireworks were let off was on Bonfire Night.īack then, you bundled up, wended your way down to the school or council playing field, and oohed and aahed at the display put on by some people in the far distance who knew what they were doing. So in short, the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness is very much upon us.Įxcept outside my house, thanks to the free availability of fireworks at this time of year, it’s more like a war zone.
